ABOUT
Three Rivers Rolling
Baits with pedigree
Hi and welcome to the official web site for three rivers rolling.
Three rivers rolling has been trading as a company since 2006 but I have actually been making and rolling bait for over twenty-five years, even longer if one takes into account that I have always made my own bait and experimented with flavours and ingredients. It always did give me a great sense of satisfaction catching using my own baits, and still, does having spent several years rolling bait to my own design and then to fulfill orders using various company products, in the early nineties I started working part time for John Baker baits. As time passed this grew into a full-time position, the knowledge and experience gained resulting in the latter years my designing and developing several products and exclusive baits for both retail and direct sales.
Towards the end of 2005, John initially decided to wind up John Baker baits. However, due to customer demand as much as anything else, the following year I started trading as Three Rivers Rolling. The idea was to supply the “finished” bait I had rolled and built up a reputation with rather than flavours and powders. This was somewhat daunting, having to learn the new skill sets required for running my own business but also exciting as now I had a completely free hand to explore my own ideas regarding bait.
With what I considered to be a final polish to existing recipes, I also developed several interesting concepts, for instance, a bait that relies on powdered flavour/enhancers rather than liquid so contains no recognisable solvents, and a citrus/acidic bait. Both of which have proved to be not only exceptional catchers but also far from “ run of the mill”. To some degree I see “bait and its making” as an evolving process, always looking at new ingredients either for a new recipe or maybe even to tweak an existing one.
Probably the most significant, recent development at Three Rivers Rolling has been the supplying of “house” baits to venues in France. This has been a good test of the baits “food” value, not only in terms of the residents continued growth but also their health and well-being. Am pleased to say that in all cases the bait has passed with flying colours. Anglers using the bait not only catching the majority but also new venue records reported.Very satisfying!
Supplying these orders has also meant investing in machinery to fulfill larger quantities.I still roll smaller orders on hand tables, but machines mean that the more popular baits can be rolled quicker, in bulk, which also means keeping the cost static.
So although you might never have heard of THREE RIVERS ROLLING, the company has been around for some considerable time. Not just another “here today” bait maker knocking out a bit of bait from a garage, 2016 is actually the company's tenth anniversary.
Baits with pedigree !.
Probiotics, HNV, Krill meal, Lt94, Hydrolysates.
It may surprise you to learn that all these so called” new” concepts/ingredients, and more, have been part of the makeup of Three rivers rolling products for years.
Recipes are all blended combinations, especially flavours, thus ensuring unique baits to Three rivers rolling. The general aim being to produce baits of an “HNV” type with both texture and actual taste! Something the fish will enjoy eating as food rather than an over flavoured lure. It's also something I consider important when thinking about the very high biomass of carp now present in most waters. It is “anglers” who are more often the main food source providers and baits used need to ensure not only the growth but also the health of the lakes residents. Having now supplied lakes in France with the “house” bait I know three rivers bait fulfills that requirement.
I use quality ingredients and generally buy these direct rather than deal with middlemen. This helps to ensure the consistency and in some cases exclusivity. Note as well that I will only use very fresh, human food grade eggs, not out of date bargains.
All the baits available have been well tried and tested over several years (ten years plus in some cases!) and have proven to be very effective either on short day sessions or long term application, at home or abroad. And not just for Carp, some huge Catfish and Sturgeon, in particular, have been captured.Several recipes have also been very successful for Barbel and three rivers also make a bespoke bait for the species which has accounted for some enormous specimens. Unlike many I do not make “specials” for an inner circle of friends or field testers, what you buy is exactly the same as has been used for ALL captures which validate both the baits themselves and the ingredients used.
Many of my customers are not only long term but are also not interested in publicity and here at Three rivers rolling we “understand” this and do not push customers into publicising their captures. Obviously, though any positive publicity is welcome.
Three rivers can also offer a customised rolling service. There is a 10kg min order for this and usually a slight price increase, but any of the recipes can be tweaked. For instance, the bio crab with garlic powder is popular assuming you have the guts to try it, a very pungent recipe that does not have the lynx effect! Baits could also be darkened if required or can be made slightly more buoyant for fishing silty waters. Perhaps this service would suit you and a few friends looking for a unique bait to use on your local water or a trip abroad. Basically, am always open to having a chat re your requirements.
You may also notice that all packaging is plain and simple. This is quite deliberate, “fancy” labeling does not catch fish and the savings made are passed onto you via the price.
